Please the Trees
Please the Trees
This originally nameless project that brought two different music world together was born in 2006 after a meeting between a mainstay on the Tábor rock scene – guitar dreamers and healers Some Other Place – and the original singer/songwriter Václav Havelka, who performs under the name selFbrush. The ambient noise sounds of Some Other Place were lacking a vocalist, and Havelka had long been looking for a band that would be able to add the requisite level of intensity and tension to songs that were languishing in his desktop drawer. After several practice session, their jamming led to something more. The band adopted the name Please The Trees and slowly and cautiously began to perform in public. Over the course of several months, they managed to attain a well-deserved reputation as one of the greatest hopes of the Czech indie-rock scene. In 2012, they won the Anděl Award in the alternative music category for their album A Forrest Affair.

Hi-Fi
Hi-Fi
Hi-Fi was founded in 2002 by composer Petr Wajsar. Its current line-up has been playing together since 2006. In 2008/9, the band won two big prizes: the Boom Cup in Ostrava and Startér Live in Prague.
Hi-Fi plays mainly electronic dance music and jazz, but its stylistic repertoire ranges from hip-hop and reggae all the way to techno and drum’n’bass. The band’s original Czech and English lyrics often include plays on words, rap and beatbox. In addition to live instruments, the band also uses electronics and a drum machine. Most of the band’s songs are original, but depending on the type of event and space, their performances can also include dance and other arrangements of jazz standards.

Urban Trio
Urban trio
The Urban trio was founded in the autumn of 2011, when they held their first improvised concert in Jihlava. Since then, the band has been practicing and performing regularly. They focus exclusively on jazz, performing original compositions as well as fresh arrangements of jazz standards and popular songs. The band is inspired by the blues tradition, the swing era and especially modern jazz. Much of the band’s original songs are written by keyboardist Jakub Urban, with help from bassist Jakub Antl and drummer Ondřej Sluka. The Urban trio plays at leading clubs on the Czech and foreign jazz scene. During their recent fall tour of Egypt, they made important contacts on the African continent as well.
