I. year of Visegrád Animation Forum held at ANIFILM 2013 calls for submissions of animation short film projects or tv series projects in concept into the pitching competition.
The pitching competition is organized by the Association of Czech Animation (Asociace animovaného filmu) as a part of the Visegrad Animation Forum (VAF, 5-7 May) held at the International Festival of Animation Film in Třeboň Anifilm (3-8 May). The competition is non-statutory and it is opened to any East European or Visegrad project or to a project that emphasises values of East and West European culture exchange and collaboration. The selection committee of professionals will choose 8 short film projects and 7 TV series submitted projects to be presented in the final VAF competition.
Their authors will be able to present the selected projects at the Visegrád Animation Forum 2013 pitching session in front of international producers, professionals, TV commission editors and potential co-producers. Each project can be represented by at most one author and one producer at the final pitching session.
The pitching jury of international professionals will then award the Best short film project with the Prize of CZECH TELEVISION including the grant of 2000 EUR for further development of the film. The pitching jury of international professionals will also select the Best TV series project.

CONDITIONS OF APPLICATIONS FOR SHORT FILM SUBMISSION
o The Visegrád Animation Forum accepts only short film projects of films under 20 minutes
o At least 50 percent of the short film must be done with an animation or multimedia technique with the emphasis on the graphic form of the final result.
o The project must have a producer who can represent it at the pitching competition, alone or with one author (filmmaker or designer).
o There is no submission fee. .
o The project must be accompanied by the info provided in the online internet form:
• a description of the basic idea or logline
• a synopsis (250 words)
• a treatment + director’s explication, realistic estimation of a budget (500 words)
• examples of graphic and visual style
• a short biography of the director (50 words)
• info about the production company and contacts (50 words)
CONDITIONS OF APPLICATIONS FOR TV SERIES SUBMISSION
o The Visegrád Animation Forum accepts only TV animation series projects with episodes of standard diffusion length.
o At least 50 percent of the TV animation series must be done with an animation technique with the emphasis on the graphic form of the final result.
o The project must have a producer who can represent it at the pitching competition, alone or with one author (filmmaker or designer), and a plan for TV co-production or TV diffusion.
o There is no submission fee.
o The series project must be accompanied by the info provided in the online internet form:
o a logline
o a description of the main story line and poetics (250 words)
o a treatment with the description of the target group, number of episodes, budget and TV development and release plan (500 words)
o examples of visual style and main characters
o a short biography of the main director (50 words)
o a presentation of the production company and a possible TV partner + contacts (50 words)
DETAILS ABOUT THE TRAINING AND A PITCHING
Participants of the Visegrád Animation Forum’s pitching will be able to attend special preparation workshops in order to work on their projects under the guidance of professionals. The workshops will be held on the first day of the three-day programme. The final pitching will be held on the last (third) day. Every participating team will have 10 minutes to present their project in front of the jury and the audience.
The Visegrad Animation Forum will cover the accommodation at the festival hotel, the transport from the Prague airport and the modest hospitality during the 3-day event.
This event also offers unique possibilities of meeting foreign professionals and producers looking for new talents and interesting topics from our region. The programme will offer formal and informal opportunities to meet them and discuss possibilities of co-production in our region between countries with different production capacity. There will also be several case studies presented of such co-production cooperation.
