Sunday at Anifilm is definitely not a day of rest.

On this day, too, we offer a more than diverse programme.
The sixtieth anniversary of the first Czech Television broadcast is being celebrated not only at the station headquarters. At the Chill-out Zone, audiences can see animated spots created especially to mark this anniversary. At 9am, there will be a block of popular animated children’s bedtime stories, followed at 11am by the latest such episodes and, an hour after lunch, a block of less well known animated bedtime stories for adults that were originally created for a New Year’s Eve special.

Also starting an hour after lunch is the Visegrad Animation Forum, a three-day programme for professionals being organized in collaboration with the Association of Czech Animation. The forum is being attended by around 100 internationally renowned professional animated filmmakers. Any free spaces will be made available to accredited members of the public.

Today, we will be presenting two films in competition for Anifilm’s main Animorpha Award in the category of feature-length animated film for grown-ups. The Spanish film O Apóstolo about an escaped prisoner who ends up in a very strange village is filled with a tension worthy of Agatha Christie, but also features a surreal, almost mystical atmosphere. The American dystopia Consuming Spirits took 14 years to make. The film the stories of at first glance unassuming figures in one factory town – but we soon discover that they are brought together by more than just working for the local newspaper.

On Masaryk Square at 9pm, audiences can look forward to the latest film by Tim Burton: Frankenweenie. This black-and-white film tells the story of Victor, who refuses to accept the death of his best friend, his beloved dog Sparky, a brings him back to life – with just a few minor alterations.
And for night owls, we have a concert by Hi-Fi at the festival club or a block of animated horror.
