Animated Italian Delicacies
This year, Anifilm will introduce a segment of Italian animation called “neo-pictorial.” It is characterized by its emphasis on elaborate and refined artistic aspects of the film based on traditional techniques of hand animation and fine art. The camera movements are made using animation and so the imagery of the film changes fluidly. Whereas similar film tend to become only cheap spectacles, the Italian school has a different focus. Most of the authors see their films as some sort of intimate confession. In the history of animation, you can find such films only sporadically and often made by solitary filmmakers. But this Italian phenomenon is unique in that it has been manifesting itself for more than thirty years thanks to a group of authors Anifilm has chosen its most interesting representatives from recent years. You will also have a chance to see the Czech premiere of the documentary about the legendary Italian director Bruno Bozzetto.
