Fragments

Ivo Louda

Fragments is an artistic installation on the border between physicality and virtuality. On a tablet with augmented reality, you use virtual blocks to build structures in which you can lose yourselves. This combination of a digital and a tactile experience is brought to you by students of the Faculty of Arts and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec as a part of their research on the future of augmented reality in graphic arts and construction. Come and build the future with us!

Prasení + Sós

During Anifilm 2020, the corridors of the Red Wing of Chateau Liberec will host an exhibition of posters of two different events which are actually similar in some respects. They are called Prasení and Sós, were created rather recently and their aim is to unite and inspire animators and affiliated artists. These informal (and sometimes even regular) meetings are organised by Czech artists themselves. Their spontaneous activity proves – among other things – that the local scene is alive, and its community awareness has become stronger.

One of the posters for Prasení was created by Viktor Svoboda, the rest were created by Vojta Kočí. Each Sós event also has an original poster printed on a risograph. So far, the posters have been created by: Saki Matsumoto, Mikuláš Suchý, Bára Halířová, Linda Retterová, Dávid Štumpf, Magda Kvasničková, Nina Ovsová.

Three Voices

Daria Kashcheeva, Marie Urbánková, Martin Pertlíček

This co-production project is the result of uniting three student films that were made simultaneously at three Czech art schools – the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The creators of Three Voices share a passion for puppet animation and each of the films has a personal artistic message. The three films: Concrete Jungle Marie Urbánková (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague) / Daughter – Daria Kashcheeva (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) / Noctuelle – Martin Pertlíček (University of West Bohemia in Pilsen) have already had their individual premieres and still compete at various festivals around the world. Daughter has met with critical acclaim and in addition to many other awards, it won two awards at the Annecy festival in France, the Student Oscar and it was nominated for Best Animated Short Film by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The initiator and supervisor of the project was Martin Vandas from MAUR Film, a company which focuses on finding and supporting animation talents.

Domased: An On-line Gallery in the Times of Corona and Beyond

Michaela Mihalyiová, Dávid Štumpf, Marta Prokopová, Karolína Davidová, Kamila Dohnalová, Matej Mihályi

Domased is a unique online gallery. It was created in April 2020 by a group of Czech and Slovak visual storytellers and producers. Its aim was to collectively and creatively share the burden of stay-at-home situation during the COVID lockdown and transform it into visual artistry. The gallery reflects not only home offices but the unprecedented situation in general. However, it does so in a joyful, uplifting, concise, daring, sassy and funny way. Hyperbole is our middle name.

Wave Motion

Julie Lupačová

Wave motion is an audio-visual experiment, something between a sound installation and a performance. This authorial sound composition for light and water surface plays on a system of instruments resembling a sound laboratory. The analogue technique connects acoustic and optical perception. Images created by sound appear in space, and slight modulations hypnotically transform their shape.

Julie Lupačová graduated from the Studio of Animation at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Her interest in sound and moving images led her to experiments with the possibilities of portraying sounds, at first in a digital environment. She later transferred her experiments into the physical world. Last year, her sound laboratory was exhibited in the National Gallery in Prague and the UM Gallery.

Lounging at Home with Jan Čařík and His Epigones

Jan Čařík, Jan Saska, Vojtěch Kiss, Ondřej Slavík

For the duration of the festival, Chateau Liberec will host an epoch-making and forgettable exhibition which will – among other things – present the biggest phenomenon of this day and age: the universally revered and very successful yellow-coloured television thinker, announcer, jack-of-all-trades and baroque multi-talent, arch-presenter, editor-in-chief and hyper-media super-tycoon Jan Čařík.

For some time now, BcA. Jan Čařík has been using social media to make masses of his friends and fans blissfully happy with his regular posts full of wisecracking quips, witticisms and opinions. In addition, in recent years he has taken control of a part of our Festival daily. This unmistakeable protagonist of heroism will be waiting for you in the lobby of Château Liberec along with the work of his less successful colleagues – the once-famous filmmakers/artists Jan Saska and Vojtěch Kiss. You will have a chance to see comic strips from the last six editions of Anifilm, starring (in the pre-Čařík era) such names as Adam Elliot, Jiřina Bohdalová and Jan Čařík.
