Nauzea Orchestra: Zoo

Marie Nováčková | Czech Republic | 2019 | 5 min

Marie Nováčková’s graduate film was made at the University of West Bohemia under the tutelage of Jiří Barta. The black and white music video is full of weird creatures marching through a gloomy and mysterious world. The visuals excellently resonate with the Czech band’s post-rock style mixed with electronics.

P/\ST: Tíseň

Bety Suchanová, Nora Štrbová | Czech Republic | 2020 | 5 min

The critical, angry and offensive style of Czech rap duo P/\ST is accompanied by a no less disturbing video made by two female directors. They naturally use black and white stylisation and alternate between simple, yet strong motifs. The personified anxiety from the song’s title transforms its form – it grows, spills, crawls on the walls, creeps out of woods and brooks and cannot be trapped.

Igorrr: Very Noise

David Nicolas Meat Dept., Kevin Van Der Meiren | France | 2019 | 3 min

Very Noise is the synthesis of many testimonies of stroke victims that the authors have collected over the past few years. This experimental 3D computer animation is an excellent example showing that CGI offers many more possibilities than filmmakers generally explore and that its shapeability can be used to add unexpected absurdity to images.

Lucky Chops: Traveler

Daniel Almagor, Raman Djafari | Germany | 2019 | 4 min

And then there’s a march… This originally stylised music video characterised by visual thickening of the complete image is a collaboration of two illustrators and filmmakers from Hamburg.
