Anifilm Begins in a Couple of Days

Anifilm International Festival of Animated Films begins on 22nd June and you can find its complete programme on the festival website here. In addition to the festival’s busy programme of international and national competitions of the newest animated films, virtual reality and computer games, the visitors can look forward to a varied non-competition film programme and accompanying events such as exhibitions, concerts, animation workshops and professional industry programme.
Let us briefly remind you of the Anifilm 2021 festival programme. The main non-competition film programme is titled Planet A and focuses on nature and environment. Our selection of feature and short films includes testimonies focusing on real issues, space travel, exploration of the past, films celebrating nature and life on Earth and also parodies and ironic films. Outside of its film section, Planet A is also represented in screenings for children and our popular midnight animation section. Our Queer Animation programme, a special section of this year’s Anifilm, will prove how liberating the medium of animation can be. In Classics Revived, Anifilm will screen the newly restored version of Brigand Jurko by Viktor Kubal. Many delicacies can also be found in our Special Screenings section, where you will have a chance to see a programme block commemorating the anniversary of the Studio of Animation of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Jury Programmes form a stand-alone and comprehensive section. The names of all our jurors can be found here.
Anifilm can’t forget the youngest audiences. We have prepared a busy screening and accompanying programme. In addition to the aforementioned programmes within the festival theme Planet A, there’s also a selection of films by the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award Edgar Dutka and a selection of films by our jury member Alexandra Májová. Our section Taking Stock is a showcase of films for the whole family which have recently entered Czech distribution.
