Festival’s Second Theme is 'Fine-Art-Animation'
07 | 04
Animation is art in motion, so it’s only natural that animated films often thematise fine art itself. Animation is also becoming increasingly frequent in galleries, and animated films often use museums and galleries as settings. These fields intertwine and supplement and inspire one another. That’s the focus of this year’s non-competition programme Fine-Art-Animation. The programme asks the questions what fine art gives to animation and how animation can enrich works of art and add an extra dimension.
To explore this topic, Anifilm has chosen several approaches and will screen not only short and feature films, but also documentaries and films for children. Their directors are often renowned filmmakers such as Joanna Quinn, Georges Schwizgebel, Theodore Ushev, Yuri Norstein, Monique Renault, Gerrit van Dijk, Will Vinton, Norman McLaren, Paul Bush, Witold Giersz, Gil Alkabetz and Gianluigi Toccafondo. We’ll also take a look at Czech collage animation, oil painting animation and also unexpected designers of Czech animated films. In connection to the theme, an exhibiton of Slovenian-Hungarian artist Milorad Krstić will be held in the Liberec Regional Gallery.
