This iconic film of not just Czech but world animation adapts a medieval German legend. And we have great news for you! Thanks to the initiative of American companies Deaf Crocodile and Comeback Company, you can now see this gem of a film by Jiří Barta in a new, digitally restored version. And what's more, the screening will also include Barta’s similarly iconic short film The Vanished World of Gloves.

Since digital technologies took over the audiovisual world, the traditional film stock, which has always had a particular enchanting charm, has also acquired a certain air of nostalgia. There are still many filmmakers who use it and many cinemas with 35 mm and 16 mm projectors. One of the authors who has long remained loyal to traditional film stock is one of this year’s jurors, the Canadian filmmaker Steven Woloshen. As part of this masterclass, more than half of his experimental films will be screened from film stock, so the event represents a unique opportunity to enjoy a proper film screening!
