Chicken for Linda!
13.00 // Varšava Cinema
This comedy for a wide range of audiences offers great entertainment for both children and, thanks to some scenes and details, adults. During this and last year’s festival season, it has managed to gain acclaim by winning the Best Feature Film Award at Annecy and earning nominations for the César Award and for the Best Animated Feature Film at the European Film Awards. The Italian-French creative duo Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach made a film that is pleasantly playful, gracefully animated, and due to its colour differentiation of characters and artistic shortcuts also somewhat atypical.
Little Man in the Open-air Cinema
20.30 // Dr. E. Beneše Square
This 2015 puppet film by puppeteer and director Radek Beran is based on the Magnesia Litera Award-nominated children’s book The Great Journey of Little Man by Lenka Uhlířová and photographer Jiří Stach. The marionettes and the graphic style of the film, which was shot in a real forest, were designed by František A. Skála, a talented sculptor, illustrator, and graphic artist, whose work is characterised by laborious manufacturing processes, emphasis on flawless handiwork, and great attention to detail. The soundtrack was created by Milan Cais of the band Tata Bojs.
The Man Who Stopped Time
10.00–18.00 // Liebieg Villa
Don’t forget to stop by the Liebieg Villa for the interactive exhibition The Man Who Stopped Time, which explores the question of whether a gallopping horse ever finds itself in a state when none of its feet are touching the ground and the ways in which people searched for the answer to this question 150 years ago, without the internet and modern technology at their disposal.
